IPG Mediabrands’\u00a0UM Studios<\/a>\u00a0takes home its first Cannes Lions Grand Prix, in Entertainment\u2014a big win for the media agency’s content studio.<\/p>\n

The win is\u00a0for “5B,” a documentary UM Studios\u00a0produced\u00a0for client Johnson & Johnson\u00a0on the San Francisco General Hospital’s 5B ward, the first that\u00a0treated people with HIV\/AIDS during the early 1980s\u2014when most healthcare professionals\u00a0mischaracterized it as\u00a0a “gay” disease and refused treatment to patients.<\/p>\n

“There’s a lot in [that win] for me,” says Brendan Gaul, UM global chief content officer, head of UM Studios and producer of the film. “It’s incredible to be recognized in this way in this [Pride] month.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
