Just a few weeks ago, Sasha Savic was appointed Global Chief Executive Officer of UM, a global media agency network of IPG Mediabrands. Sasha, an IPG alumnus, focused in our Legends & Leadership conversation on his vision for the agency’s global growth, reflecting on “why we’re in this game” and “purposeful ideas that contribute to brand growth of our clients.” Those clients include American Express, Honda, Johnson & Johnson, Levi Strauss & Co., Nestlé and Sony, among others. Sasha reports to Mediabrands Global CEO Eileen Kiernan, who joined me for a Legends & Leadership conversation in October 2021.

In our wide-ranging conversation Sasha explored issues related to post-COVID return-to-the-office realities and his goal to inspire teams to believe, as he does, “that advertising has the potential to change the world. We have that responsibility and opportunity.” Sasha’s priority No. 1 is to create a winning culture at UM. This includes recognizing the importance of reaching traditionally underserved audiences and assuring clients are “new majority ready.” Key words in his vocabulary include sustainability, diversity, equity, responsibility, purpose, connections, multicultural and environment.
